Swept Outlet Fittings For High Pressure Applications

SWEPT OUTLETS - FORGED STEEL PIPE FITTINGS strongest solution for branch connections in high pressure industry pipe systems
  • Swept flange inserted branch fitting
  • Highest strength
  • Reduced stress & smoothest fluid flows

Swept outlets are an integrally self-reinforcing, forged steel branching outlet for pipe runs in nuclear, gas, oil, power generation and petrochemical plants. It is an alternative to a reduced tee and standard welded outlets used in industrial pipe systems for a 90° branch connection. It has become widely used in recent years for connecting reinforced fittings. Because of their many benefits, swept outlets are often used in industrial pipeworks, nuclear pipes and fluid flow environments where high pressures and extreme temperatures demand minimal interruption or disturbance to fluid flow and correspondingly help to reduce stress on the welded junctions between main pipe run and the branch outlet. Their design allows them to get the best possible distribution of forces on the pipe junctions and welds and pressure in the pipe.

Available as Deltinox Stainless & Delcorte Carbon Steel Forged Socket Weld Pipe Fittings

Swept outlets are contoured, integrally reinforced, butt-welded branch connections with a low stress intensification factor to give a long fatigue life. They are specified by two dimensions, namely the dimension of the branch connection of the pipe and the dimensions of the main run pipe. These dimensions are according to standard specifications, whether imperial or metric (inch or mm). This style of swept outlet is the toughest in-line welded joint method for branch connections to major pipe runs. We also offer swept outlets manufactured to fit specific needs. Typical applications include the following:

  • Processing plant for sulphuric, phosphoric and acetic acids
  • Pulp and paper processing
  • Components in gas scrubbing plants
  • Seawater cooling equipment
  • Oil refinery components

Swept outlet are used for branching connections as an alternative to surface mounted welded, socket and threaded outlets to create 90° branch connections from a main pipe run. Swept outlets are also an excellent alternative to welded outlets or reduced tees, because they are directly welded into the wall of the main pipe run, dispersing stresses and enhancing fluid flow characteristics more effectively than the more traditional, externally fixed, welded alternative. Assembly time for swept outlet branches is substantially shorter than needed for reduced tees as only a single borehole in the pipe wall is needed. Swept outlets are just one of the Delcorte and Deltinox family of outlet fittings suitable for the vast majority of high temperature and pressure industrial pipeworks needed in the processing and extraction of petrochemicals and the safe management of nuclear industry fluid flow.
